My Story


My name is Hani Abualqaraya, the Son of Gaza. I was born and raised in Gaza to parents displaced from Beit Daras in 1948. I am a survivor of multiple wars, and since the current genocide began, I have lost 25 members of my family. My childhood was anything but stable. Survival and protecting my loved ones were my only constants. Resilience runs in my blood, and despite everything, my loyalty and connection to Gaza remain unbreakable.

I arrived in the UK in February 2024, Alhamdulillah (All Praise to God). Only Allah knows what I endured and the trauma of the genocide that continues to haunt me. I never wanted to leave my family, but when Allah gave me the chance to survive, I accepted it with gratitude and made it my duty to help those I left behind. I have never stopped supporting my family. I can't, after Allah, I am their only hope, and they depend on me. I carry the responsibility of my entire bloodline on my shoulders. My culture, traditions, memories, and upbringing are sacred to me, and I express that connection through creativity.

Growing up in Gaza, my family and I found comfort in art, design, and handmade clothing. Even in the hardest times, creativity kept us connected, hopeful, and human. That same spirit is at the heart of Son of Gaza. Son of Gaza is more than a brand, it is a piece of my soul. It honours our resilience, our right of return, our right to exist, and serves as a lifeline for my family and people in Gaza.
